It's all good....and cool... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: the 9-5 or the new 9-3 sport combi, David A., Sun, 24 Apr 2005 14:15:23 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
All the cool people drive SportWagons and now that's a choice for 9-3 folks too. Are you a 9-3 or a 9-5 person? I like the bigger, more traditional Saab, but I'm an old Saaber, figuratively and literally.
A 2001 "Aero" Convertible, must be the European version, is still a "OG9-3" which will make a 9-5 feel right at home, same controls and dash layout, but the 9-5 has all the luxury touches and current 9-5's have equipment never offered on OG9-3s like xenons, vented seats, rain sensing wipers, park assist, Harmon Kardon sound, navigation and more. 9-5s in Aero trim come with the Viggen engine and 250hp, whereas your 2001 Aero was likely only the 2.0 205hp engine. A 9-5 is much improved, but still very much the same, a traditional Saab harkening all the way back to the first classic 900's, but with completely up to the minute availible technology.
If you want somethin' all new, go with the 9-3. The 9-3SS was all new in 2003 and the new-new SportCombi will be the first 9-3SS with the new 250hp 2.8l V6. The 9-3 sets new standards for FWD cars or for any car for that matter in handling and ride with the new weight distribution, all aluminium suspension and brakes, and passive rear wheel steering (ReAxe) technologies. All new display technology, binnacle based menu driven systems, Ipod compatibility and fresh clean stying in and out make a 9-3 SportCombi an excellent choice too.
