Just got the history of the 2001 9-5SW Linear we got in january 2004. Car has 85000 km now.

Phew.

16 000$CAN overall, including accessories and tires, in a 4 year period.

Good news:
Car was always serviced at dealer.
Many $$$ parts were replaced:
Front brakes at 32K km
New software at 33K km
SID at 46K km
Mass air flow meter at 52K
Brake booster, turbo + cat converter, battery at 60K
DIC at 83K
Rear window motor and door lock, 2 window regulators, boost bypass valve, water pump.

I understand that SID, DIC and Mass air flow are "wear" items so I am pleased they were replaced. I also understand that a failed turbo will kill a catalytic converter in a matter of minutes, so give this one to bad luck.

What I don't understand is:
Brakes at 32 000 km? Note that I replaced them again at 83 000 km. That's a little early in my book.

Battery: the new one from 03/2004 (OEM lasted only 3 years, 60 000 km) was already dead when I bought the car in january 2005. What gives ? Batteries are supposed to last much more than 1 year or 3, don't you think ? Could it be a sign of a failing voltage regulator?

Brake booster: PO complained of a strange noise in the cabin, then they replaced the brake booster. The funny thing is: he complained again after the replacement, and I heard that "fart" sound myself once. Anyway, the braking power is fine, so I don't know where this sound is coming from. Any clue ?

Finally, the PO was not a lucky guy since he had at least 3 hits resulting in 2 windshields, 1 headlamp lens, 1 driver side mirror and window regulator, 1 mag wheel + 1 wheel bearing, and at least 3 punctures (with 2 new tire).

So, should I be scared or happy? The car is a real pleasure to drive, however.
