Tires Posted by frank [Email] ![]() ![]() |
02 Aero with Pilot Primacy tires - just now worn out at 32k miles.
I just bought Pirelli PZeroNero M&S - great price and great reviews on trierack site.
Had them put on and drove around town - felt OK.
Drove down the california highway, Hwy 85 San Jose area,(heavily grooved to prevent hydroplaning) and the car felt slippery, squishy, followed the grooves - but not just followed the groves it jumped grooves both the front and back independently. Literally the car felt unsafe and I could see the front aimming one way then the next as the back was doing the same thing! Never fely anything like it before - this was more than tramlining.
TO give them a chance I did this twice covering ~150 miles on the tires and no difference.
Called tirerack, they said I could return the tires, great response from them. Kudos to tirerack - I am a customer from now on.
So, I have just ordered the OEM Michelin Pilot Primacy - scared to go thru the same thing again with some other choice.
Actually the Primacy were very nice tires - felt like a great performance tire and was dead on straight track down the same highway, which I drive daily. Only issue I had with the Primacy and is what caused me to try new tires was the road noise after 20~25k miles and cost $206 each.
Anyways I would rather put up with the noise then the squishy, squermy issue. And this Hwy allows for 75~80 MPH which in the Aero has felt rock solid and I did not want to loose that feel/confidence.
Anyone else have similar issues with Pirreli's or Hwy 85?
