If the car is still new, warranty hasn't started, than you might have trouble buying the car at a "fair" price. A new '05 will be too close, maybe even better. End of year allowances are often less than current model year incentives with Saab. The dealer will have to put some serious red ink in the profit book to sell the car for a fair price. Likely they'll just wait for someone who doesn't ask how much a new 2005 is or is in love with that particular car, or maybe someone they build a deal for, that is do a special favor for so the quid pro quo is that they take the 2004. Better for a salesmanager to have a leftover then major red ink in the profit book.
Now if the dealer punched or sold the car, then the warranty clock started, it likely has license plates, and although it hasn't had an owner, it's technically a used car. If the dealer did that to reflect the maximum incentives availible in 2004, much more than the end of year allowance, than they are still buried and will have to use the olde red ink to sell it, just not as much.
