I had a 2000 Aero with a raft of problems but they seemed to be the luck of the draw rather than anything specific to the 2000 MY. a)Check shifting into and out of all gears -look for harshness or balkiness, A shift repair kit was made for this tranny but labor makes it a very expensive fix. b) Oil leaks at pan or head gasket. A big deal. c) missing pixels in SID.
Here is a list of the unsceduled repairs on my Aero. I present this not to whine (I did buy another Aero!) but rather to give what is probably a complete list issues commonly found with the 2000 Aero manual trans car.
I agree $11K sounds high by ~2-3k.
It's a fun car and I would think by 120+K mi that all of the usual issues will have surfaced or already delt with.
