Help on upgrading to satellite and a better subwoofer

I just picked up my 01 SE sportwagon last week and love it. I already put on a set of 17" SAAB EVO wheels and tinted the windows -- not bad for a week. I went into a stereo shop to see about adding a satellite radio. How do you get access to the antenna leads and 12vdc to install a FM modulated satellite radio or is it well worth $75 for them to do it? In my old Nissan I could do it, and do it right, in about half an hour -- very easy to work on. My wife is tired of carting me around to have the car modified too!
The shop also (of course) told me all the crazy things they could do to the car while keeping looking stock. I told them I have an 8" and an amp I'm not using (from my last car). They said they've pulled out the factory subwoofer on a wagon, reinforced the panel with fiber resin, installed a 8" with a small amp. They said ideally they'd love to build out the sub compartment a few inches and put two 10" on both sides, replace all the speakers, factory amps and build an amp rack with a fan under the floor cargo compartment -- ok, that's going a little nuts and might clash with the 2 car seats.
But back to the single 8" idea. Has anyone pulled out the factory sub (looks like a 6 1/2") and upgraded or has anyone figured out how to pull the panel off without breaking something? I like the sound of the sub but it needs more oomph. Keeping everything factory is the only way I'd go, hence the SAAB spec'd wheels. Where are the factory amps located?
