Seriously though, have you considered the possibility that the lack of availibility is due to the fact that they don't fail and therefore don't need to be stocked? That ain't necessarily true, but it is another possible side of the pancake as we used to say at Saturn.
All large companies have complaint departments, generally called customer (lack of) service. It's important that you register your complaint via letter, fax, email or phone 'cause if nobody complains, nothing would ever change, but the likelyhood of anything resembling a thoughtful, reasoned, considered response is remote. Companies do keep track of the trends though, that's why it's important to speak up, but parts availibility is a common issue that is often beyond the manufacturers control as they may not build the actual part.
Perhaps the fault is with your mechanic/dealer. It's been said that modern mechanics are just glorified parts changers and often no attempt is made to actually fix the part or even clean it which may be the only problem.
That's another problem with customer service, seperating the dealer stuff from the factory stuff as the dealer is indeed his own business.
