Not all cars utilize the whole visible surface on the brake rotor.
The gain in brake force of the Aero and ARC rotors is made from that the pad is clamped down on the bigger rotor, further out. It is probably an engineer out here that in numbers can explain how the same brake pad can accomplish more brake force by biting down on a bigger diameter rotor.
The brake pad is the same as for the smaller rotors.
I machine rotors for the local NAPA store in town and I see quite a bit of different rotors from many car models and many of them have only wear marks on 2/3 of the full rotor face.
