More than any year, a cool SportWagon... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Addiing a 9-5 to our Saab fleet...what years are best?, Noel, Sat, 21 May 2005 12:47:59 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
It's all good. Just depends on which model you like and how much you wanna' spend. There were some MCE, mid cycle enhancements to the 2002, 5 speed auto, mildly revised nose and taillights, and sport seats in the Aeros, but that didn't obsolete older models. I drive the newer ones all the time and am very happy with my 2000 Aero SportWagon. I love the look of the 3 piece BBS wheels.
Many folks aren't fond of the 2002 and up dashboard wood color of the Arcs and Linears and metallic look trim of the Aero. There's likely still replacement wood dashes in the dark burled walnut of the 99-1001 cars for $300ish and installation.
For me the SportWagons are the ultimate Saab hatchback, and to me the best looking 9-5. I love the hard cargo cover and the easy access. The back seat of the SportWagon feels much roomier than the sedan with the rear windows further away.
You might be fond of a V6 SE or Arc, or you might be an Aero person. The differences in the 5-speed transmission is subtle, as well as the suspension changes, none of which you notice going down the road 90% of the time.
Price, condition, color and equipment outweigh any specific year. It's all good, I wouldn't reject any of 'em.
The CPO warranty, in addition to being a more than decent value as far as warranties go, also comes with 0.9% - 1.9% - 2.9%, 36-48-60 respectively, Saab financing this month.
And one final kink, if you are financing a $20-25k car, your lease payments on a new one might be the same or less.
