I'm totally frustrated and looking for help with my 6cylinder 2001 9-5 wagon. Last fall the car was in the shop for a month while a blue smoke puff on start was being diagnosed and repaired. After two turbos, and a "box attached to the turbo" (I'm a woman and getting specifics from the mechanic is like pulling teeth) were replaced, the problem was diagnosed as two bad valve stem seals. An overhaul of the head solved the problem. During that time there were issues with misfiring that resolved when the head was rebuilt. The past month I have had intermittant misfiring under acceleration with no CEL lit until last week when the car lost power on the highway. The CEL flashed while misfiring, and then when the engine smoothed out it came on steady. The dealer diagnosed bad DIC's and replaced them(labor only) along with an O2 sensor. The car ran fine for about 60 miles and sat for 24 hours. After about 20 miles the CEL came on with a smooth engine. Another 20 miles, while I was limping home, it misfired significantly while I was accelerating and then it smoothed out again. When it misfires I lose about 50% of power. Both times the CEL light came on it was after I had filled the tank (coincidence?) Dealer now claims it is the cat. Fortunately it is under warranty, but I feel like we are again just changing parts until we hit on the right one. Any ideas, I want to regain my confidence in my car. FWIW, this car has always had a strong sulfer smell to its exhaust. And still I like my car........
