There is a better way to get a frozen rotor off that beating it with a hammer. Before you take the caliper off but after you've squeezed the caliper piston back and removed the retaining screw, use a heel bar or big screwdriver inserted into the rotor cooling slots and pry the rotor off using the caliper for support. Turn the rotor every so often and eventually it will break loose. This method is much more controlled than whacking at it and less stressful on your wheel bearings.
