OK, I decided to see if I was in limp-home mode. Discovered that I hadn't tightened the hose to the throttle body down tight enough after cleaning it.
Thinking bakc, I replace the plugs and cleaned the throttle body first, and after that was the first time the CEL flashed.
I'm thinking maybe I didn't need to buy the DIC and could have gotten away with just the CPS.
Oh well, my DIC was starting to leak a bit of oil (I took it apart and found about a drop on one coil), and they all seem to go out anyway, so it's probably not money wasted.
I think I'll through the old one back on and see how it goes and if it's OK, will through the new one in the trunk.
If the old one causes problems, I'll through it in the trunk in case the new one totally goes belly up in the future.
I'm still not totally convinced the car is fixed, but I drove about 5 miles tonight at various sppeds and loads with no symptoms. Prior to that I couldn't get down the street.
