Radiator fan mode of operation Posted by magalar [Email] (#1325) [Profile/Gallery] (more from magalar) on Wed, 15 Jun 2005 21:17:38 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Last night, I was removing the right headlamp to get access to the wiper motor that died. Everything went well, but before bringing the motor on my bench, I thought it would be a nice thing to know which wire is ground, signal and power before testing the motor with a bench battery.
So, armed with a standard test light, I tested all 3 wires for 12V. 2 of them are 12+, and one is the ground. Nice.
But then, even if the car was stopped for more than 1 hour and no key in the ignition, the radiator fan started to blow air, for no reason !!! It lasted maybe 15 seconds, just the time for me to take a look at the ignition switch and walk back under the hood, then stopped.
Gee ! Happy that my fingers were not there !
Anybody has a clue ?
With my test light, did I reversed a current flow and created a "glitch" in DICE that started the fan ?
Is this again a "never seen that before" thing, like this car is capable of creating (an OEM oil filter that is internally destroyed, a noisy starter that self-destructed when I tried to remove it, etc...)?
Is my car possessed ?
