Whenever you replace items on an AC system it can become a bit complex for the average DIY, as the system should be purged of air before it is recharged. You must also properly find all the leaky areas if your repair is to be successfull. If you know of all the leaks, you could buy the parts and replace them yourself, then go to an AC shop to have the system purged and recharged. Whenever components are disconnected, the drier should be replaced.
Properly done, recharging requires a set of decent manifold gauges, 1 for the reading the hi side and 1 for the low side of the system. Improper recharge can risk damage to your compressor.
So if you've never worked on an AC before, it can be challenging.
