Oil just started appearing in coolant

Hi all, first posting here... i love my '99 lpt 5-spd wagon 101k miles, have had it almost a year now. I just replaced the water pump a couple of months ago, so i've been keeping a close eye on the coolant tank, and just a couple of days ago i noticed a few drops of oil floating near the top, and even more drops today. So, picturing loose headbolts I went ahead and retorqued the old headbolts today. I don't think it made much difference as the breakaway torque was pretty much the same when i was done (75 lbs-ft). I ordered new headbolts anyway. The car runs and drives as normal. No evidence of coolant in the oil. Might the newer style headbolts increase the clamping and save me from having to replace the headgasket? How long can i go on like this before replacing the headgasket?
