I would use two gasket scrapers and lightly tap them in on opposite sides of the flange that holds the shaft in.
The problem is how much force to use. If you haven't done anything like that before it might be difficult to judge when it is to much force and you are risking breaking the aluminum flange.
Would it be possible to grab the flange with a big plier and twist it back and forth while applying carb cleaner?
Just to be sure, you did remove the bolt holding flange to engine block?
