I am considering the short belt. But I am a little concerned about comments relating to slipping and vibrations with the short belt configuration. Is something wrong with the long belt configuration or is it just thought to be unecessary?
Never having done anything in this area, I am a little intimidated by re-installing the motor mount (lifting the engine to line up the bolt hole). Any advice (or words of reassurance) would be appreciated.
From the threads, it sounds like replacing the upper idle and tensioner pulleys are good ideas if I'm in there anyway - even if they are not shot yet. I bought this car with 101K and have no idea whether the belt or any of the pulleys have ever been replaced. I'm on a budget but don't want to be penny wise and pound foolish. How long should those pulleys last? Any suggestions here?
And finally, any parts sources you'd recommend? Any opinion on continental vs goodyear belts?
