After many tows an adviser from SAAB ATLhas identified the problem.
It was the cell charger cable that created a feed back loop that causd lock not to open, cooling fans to stay on and then a dead battery.

e-mail thread:
My wife tells me I'm quirky just like the Saabs I've owned and I am coming to believe her. I have a great 2000 Aero wagon 49k and love it but it has a strange or dare I say quirky problem that the dealer is blaming on the cell phone. I turn off the ignition, remove the key and the car fans stay on, doors stay locked. Eventually the battery dies and the car gets towed to the dealer. They have installed a new battery, cables, fan relays and door lock switch as weel as cleaned the key ignition lock. after 5 trips to the dealer and 3 tows I tried to identify the problem. I noticed that this problem occurs when my cell phone is connected to the lighter accessory and (quirky) when I unplug the cell phone the doors opens and the fans shut off. I tried it with my wife's cell phone and the same thing happens. My car is at the dealer again this morning and the service manager suggested I get a new phone but will check the out again and my wife suggested something else I should do (no comment).
Can anyone help ????
Bob
