I agree with 100% if the time due to the catastrophic failure of the engine that will result when (not if) the tensioner assembly fails. MIne was replaced (free?) by SAAB and the tensioner failed 12K miles later. Fortunately, I heard a strange noise from the belt area and made a lucky guess what was happening. No damage to the engine.
A review of the failures the posters share with the board all reveal the same pattern, failure shortly after the 60K belt change.
Best advice from Anders and others, change the tensioner assembly during the timing belt change.
As to the water pump, mine failed at 52K, it was easy to change myself.
