"Book" = $24,125........ Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] (#81) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mike Lynch) on Sat, 30 Jul 2005 11:34:19 In Reply to: Re: Kelly Blue Book, AeroJT, Sat, 30 Jul 2005 05:28:25 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Here on the Left Coast Kelley Blue Book is the standard. There's also KBB.com for general public access, but if you're a dealer or a bank you get the actual Kelley Blue Book Wholesale-Retail #'s out of the actual book or you buy a KBB software program called Karpower.
So if another dealer called me he'd tell me the car booked for $24,125 and I'd tell him it's a tough color and a stick, probably bid it a "3 grand back" or $21k ish, so CPO and reconditioning later the cost would come up to almost $24k again and a $25.5k consumer price ain't too bad, pretty skinny profit on a $25k used car investment. Better know what you're doing before you cut it that tight. It's a rare car worth all the money if it's what you want, and somewhat homeless if you're not into BLUE or stickshifts.
Normally I would direct you to KBB.com, trade in value at "fair" ocndition to estimate a realistic trade in value, but lately KBB.com has not been Saab 9-5 friendly, KBB.com fair trade in value was only mid $17k.
