What type of work are you looking to have performed? I think Auto Scandia's hourly rate is the the same as the local Saab dealer International Motors. (96 per hour.) I have beeen there and talked to the people. I agree Auto Scandia looks like a great shop. However, there offer for work on my car was higher than the dealer with the same hourly rate. Like 500 more not including the 150 discount the dealer was going to give me for being a Saab Club memmber.
So just keep that in mind. I have heard good things about Swedish Motors in Falls Church. Supposedly it was started by two guys who left a local dealership to start their own shop. I think their hourly rate is 88 per hour. Not sure though. Here is their number 703-237-0988.
In the future I was thinking about driving out to Brewer's Saab in MD. It is a ways out there but at 68 per hour for labor and Saab Member discounts on parts. It might be the place to go.
Personally I have not had any problems at International Motors in Falls Church. Maybe it is just the argumentative nature of the people in this area but I always seem to be in line with people who are angry at International Motors. I have heard that Kenny is a great tech there though. As for the parts department, they are great!! I have had good luck with the parts people and the prices are among the lowest in the area for actual Saab parts. I usually buy parts there and have an Indy put them on. BTW My indy is not in the Mclean Falls church Area that is why I did not reccomend them to you. I live in Mclean and work in DC so it is easy for me to drop it off and hop on the metro.
I use a couple differnt independent shops. I have a Saab 9-5 Here is an example of some of the costs. Example front wheel bearing 88 labor and I bought the parts. 69 labor for right axle. New Brakes and rotors 67 for labor and I bought the parts from eeuroparts. International could not beat eeuroparts price for pads. I think 83 at eeuropars vs 105 at International Motors.
My friend who has also has a Saab 9-5 used the other indy shop that I like. The Dealer quoted over 300 to replace the pulleys, belt and a leaking oil sending unit. She bought the parts form eeuroparts and paid 105 in labor. She had him buy factory pads for front and rear and it was 275 total with labor. I wish there was a way to personal message people on this forum. If you want more info post your email and I will send you a message. Good Luck.
