Hey guys. yesterday in the nightmarish Mass/NH/Maine traffic heading up towards Maine I was sitting in traffic for a good 1.5- 2 hours. It was in the high 80's outside. About an hour in, the car started to creep upwards on the temperature gauge to the point where the warning alarm came on and i had to pull to the side of the highway and turn the car off! The car sounded and ran fine. It cooled down within minutes and in about 25 minutes I turned on the car got back on the highway, turned the HEAT ON and everything was fine (and traffic was moving). Turned the heat off. Then hit another standstill. In about 20 minutes the car started to do it again, the alarm came on, I turned on the heat and it immediately went down again. Made it home fine in 30 minutes with no problems. The car has 60,500 miles on it and my 60000 service is scheduled in two weeks. What could this be??? My 92 9000 with 255,000 runs hot too, but this kis ridiculous for a 60,000 car.
