If you push and hold the mirror button it will go blank and eventually will come up with "zone" in small letters vertically on the right. The it will display a number. The factory preset is 8, which accurate for Atlanta GA, but California is 5 for example.
The reason being that magnetic north isn't really very north. In the owners manual is a chart of what magnetic zone you're in. Also I understand that the magnetic north pole just moved out of Canada and into the Arctic Ocean.
