See my other posts on this. Yes, I have had this problem almost from the start of my lease on my V6; the 4's don't have this problem. The groan is very loud on shutoff; less on re-start but it depends on how soon you restart (sooner gives no noise; waiting longer gives the noise). As I said in my other posts, if I press ECON on shutdown, the groan is a lot less or not at all. In Houston where I live, A/C gets used alot for most of the year, so this noise is ever present if I forget to push ECON. I originally thought the motor was toast when I heard the noise; now, it's annoying and keeping me from buying the car outright. I also notice that it's starting to make the noise during normal driving (I hear it groaning at stoplights sometimes; just a small groan compared to the shutoff). Anyone have any ideas on how to fix? The dealer (who, by the way, now only services cars here in Houston due to pressure from GM to build a separate store) has said chaning the air pump won't cure the problem.
