There are 3 oil plugs on the manual transmission....fill, level, and drain. You need to open the level and fill plugs for checking purposes; fill slowly until you see excess fluid coming out of the level plug hole. Then replace the plugs. These plugs use a 8mm allen wrench; you'll need the special SAAB tool (P.N. 87 92 590) to remove the drain plug because of the lack of clearance between it and the subframe.
