You are not alone. I have a 2003 Linear wagon, and have had that problem for a year. Last August they evacuated the system, and re-filled with the proper amount of freon. It did not work for one day. I figured I'd wait till the spring. I have been back and forth at least four more times. Each time they could not duplicate the problem. Mine would be fine in re-circulation mode, but when it went into fresh air mode, the compressor would not be working, and you would get the musty smell. Then it would go into re-circulation mode, and cool the cabin down. Finally I returned on a 90+ degree day, and took a ride with the service manager. When we went back to the dealership, he replaced the climate control unit in the dash. That lasted a day, and then back to the musty smell. He has since been to a seminar, and brought up the problem. They seem to think it is an over/under charge situation. I have since bought a Volvo and won't be bringing the Saab back.
