The head unit plugs into a metal cage.
This cage is held in place with snaps on either side. The snap "ears" grab the plastic dashboard edges.
By pushing on the ears, the entire cage will slide right out.
If I remember correctly there are only four. I don't recall if there is a retaining bolt on the back, but everything is pretty obvious once you remove the head unit.
