Hi All,
After lurking around here for some time gathering information, I finally found the right car and on Sunday picked up my 2000 Aero wagon. A huge thanks to all the contributors (Anders you should be knighted) who helped me decide this was the car for me. So far so good and I'm loving it more with every drive. Just love that growl when the boost comes on and the rubber band effect of the ever increasing acceleration! :-)
Naturally it had a dicky SID, and tonight I had a go at it. In fact the biggest problem was blown globes rather than missing pixles (it was missing a few here and there, but the main symptom was functioning but barely legible display on the LHS), but by the time I had worked that out, I figured giving it the pen/iron/foam treament wouldn't hurt...
Wrong! Actually ended up worse- MUCH worse. I messed with it a few more times and improved it again almost back to where I started. I'll give it a couple of days and see if it improves as someone mentioned that theirs did. Maybe give it a couple more tries and/or consult the electronics techs at work see what they think. Anyhow, not a big deal, I figured on buying one, but I like not to either throw something perfectly good away, nor pay someone else to wreck what I can perfectly wreck myself. :-)
Are the globes something special or am I likely to be able to find them at an auto parts store? I saw some on line for something like us$9ea!! Sounds steep.
Cheers
Steve
