Mika:
I suggest that you do not attempt to upgrade the hardware in your front suspension to 2002. It will cost a small fortune. I have a 2000 9-5 Aero and I had to replace the left A-frame. Thaqt's when I became aware of how many things are different.
To upgrade your 1999 to 2002 specs and use the 2002 struts here's a partial list of what you'll have to do: A-frames, ball joints, bushings, steering knuckle housing, and wheel bearings. I'm not sure whether you might also have to replace the outer universal joints. At this juncture you're over $2,000 not including labor (you?).
Return the wrong front struts and get those made for a 1999-2001. Alternatively, you could go to Tire Rack and buy a pair of Koni' or Bilstein's. This is less expensive than SAAB OEM struts.
Good Luck,
Herb
