No flush required - just drain the old and start using the synthetic, although you may want to change the new synthetic at a shorter interval if you're unsure of the engine's history.
Here's some pointers gleaned from past posts:
Get a good filter. Some here believe that the cheap Fram filters are one of Satan's tools. I personally use the AC or Bosch.
While at the parts store, you will also need a new copper drain plug gasket. These should be replaced (or annealed) at each drain interval because the old copper work-hardens and will not seal as well the second time.
You will also need a six-point (6) socket to remove the drain plug. You can count on the fact that a 12-pointer will round off the plug.
When removing the filter, the oil with flow onto the lower engine shroud. To prevent this, fabricate a "gutter" using a scrap of 8" x 8" corrugated cardboard or aluminum roof flashing folded down the middle.
Jam this between the filter housing and the shroud and your oil will flow neatly into the drain pan.
