The saga of the little alarm module that couldn't. Couldn't be opened that is. After getting the great instructions on this site to replace the batteries on a 1999 alarm module,I ordered them, waited three weeks to get them, and today after busting my knuckles( and who knows what else) getting that stupid module out of it's hiding place,I found out it is now a sealed module and cannot be opened. If any of you 1999 owners can use a set of neat Sanyo Lithium batteries for your own DIY repairs, I'll send them for the cost of the shipping. As for this incredibly stupid sealed design, thanks to the Prince of Darkness, Joseph Lucas. Looks like a significantly higher repair cost now. Does anyone know (for sure) if the ultimate final failure mode of this module is for the alarm to simply not work or does it interfere with regular locking and unlocking of the car? Thanks in advance for a tech's answer.
