Can these rings on a 4 cly 2.3 liter engine allow synthetic oil to pass through the tail pipe without you noticing the oil being burnt????? I changed the oil in 1999 95 se about 7 thousand miles ago ( or about eight months ago) and about two weeks ago found the oil almost completely gone. I had about a quarter of an inch of 5w-40 weight synthetic oil left in the engine. There was no signs of oil leeks anywhere on the garage floor, underneath the engine, or on top of the engine. The inside walls of the tail pipe is very clean. I will check to see if hoses are week and soft and if the PCV needs changing. That part was changed about one and half years ago, or 15k miles ago. No leaks around the value cover gaskets in the back of the engine either. It was suggested to me to switch over to a heavier regular dinosaur oil to help prevent this occurrence from happening, or at least slow down the burning of oil alot. Any thoughts on what to do to prevent so much oil from going out the tail pipe? Please let me know asap. Thanks, DJB Pasadena
