Just the other day it was a post on the NG9000/9-3 board from a person raising a voice of if IDMs are being replaced for no good reason except making more money for the shops.
Well, it is impossible to say if and how many IDMs that are replaced before their due dates and just like in your case, you have good plugs, you have the new software and still have codes being triggered. So what to do?
Well, the easiest thing for a shop is to put a new IDM in and if that takes care of the C/E light the problem is solved.
Especially since we have so many reports about failing and failed cassettes.
The drawback of using Autozone now when you have the latest fault tracing software is that they don't have the tools or knowhow to use it.
The Tech 2 scanner would probably be able to pick up more information and let you know if the cassette is going South.
By the way, the P0340 code is not a CPS sensor but the CMP (CaM shaft Position sensor).
