The dealer where I purchased my car was nice enough to throw in a spare DI cassette. I keep it in my trunk, upright and ready to go. (Note; you can just fit them propped upright behind the spare tire in the well.)
Cassette failure does not always seem to be immediate. Most people seem to report the SID\CEL throwing errors prior to a total failure.
Ignoring these error messages comes at your own peril though.
Bear in mind that going by board posts alone, you'll get a somewhat stilted view. The actual number of failures can actually be very low compared to the sheer number of cars sold.
