I was about to get my fuel pump replaced, since the sending unit( the apparent source of this problem) is integral with the pump, but last week I popped the cover off of the access hole to the pump, simply wiggled around the multi in wiring connector that attaches to the pump, and after that it has worked fine. I had the same problem when filling the car up to the top and as the fuel burned down it would resume working properly. Since the pump is about $520 plus the labor to change it,I will hope that my wiggling the connector is all it needed. According to some posts on this board, the pump design on the 9-5 dates back to the 9000,and this was a common flaw. The one part I have not figured out is how to re seat that round cover on the access hole properly. Anyone know?
