Maybe I am just venting, but....My wife and I have two 2001 9-5 2.3lpts that we bought new in Princeton in June and August of 2001, respectively. We don't put a lot of mileage on them- I live right at the foot of the University of Utah where I work- so I have 32k on mine and my wife has 34k on hers. We paid cash for them and intend to keep them a long time.
The ignition module failed on Daneta's last year and two weeks ago mine failed. However, when I took in it in the dealer here (Ken Gaarf here in Salt Lake) said, woops, it is just out of warrantee,oh, and you wife's is out of warrantee too, since it was a loaner, the warrantee expired in May.
Now mind you, in April, I had cold calls from companies offering me extended warrantee plans and went to the dealer to check their offers and was told that our warrantees "were not up until next summer (06)." Well, apparently someone was wrong, and apparently I can't get the CPOE and what should have been a $1200 extended warrantee.
So I just paid $890 out of pocket to have the ignition module replaced, and after a week and a half of trying to get a quote from the dealer on an extended warrantee, the first offer I got was $2800 for four years. Then the rep (from KG's finance section, not Saab sales) came down to $1800, "because you have two Saabs and you've been such good customers", which to say the least, I thought, was a pretty disingenuous. (Actually, I thought that was really damn insulting.)
So that's my story, and while my game plan has been to watch for a good opportunity to upgrade to an Aero, right now I am so ticked that Acura is beginning to look really good again.

Jim
