The old (or new) software doesn't have a specific code for bad ignition cassette but both software have a bunch of fault codes for related items that could or (could not) be a bad cassette.
Those fault codes could be for misfire, bad CMP sensor or knock sensor or a couple of other things.
If the car is completly dead it is strange that they don't find the problem. Those problems are usually easy to find since you just need to go from the known to the unknown in testing and by elimination finding the problem.
It could also be that they are swamped with other cars with easy problems and they just don't have time to set one mechanic aside to look at this car.
It's difficult to give any advice since I don't know what they have or have not tested or if they have done any testing at all.
