How many reflash of Trionic computers have you done so far? You must use better equipment than I'm using since it is almost a full hour to read the old software and compare to available new ones, load the new one onto my Tech 2 and then load it into the Trionic ECU.
The part from Tech 2 to Trionic is 30 min at least just by itself due to slow data transfer rate.
And it is an expensive piece of equipment used for this purpose that needs to be paid for in one or another way, like it or not.
That said about the time for just the software.
One odd thing about this is that the 99 9-5 doesn't accommodate the IDM software so it sounds strange that they loaded it, but then again the technician might have just checked for software updates and seen that it was one available for the electronic throttle body and loaded that one unknowing of that it wasn't for the ignition cassette.
It is part of Saabs strategi to check for and load the new IDM software at all the times when a cassette is replace so that they can minimize future break down of the cassette but in this case being a 99 it doesn't make sense since it is no software available for it.
