I am hooked on saabs, have a 91 900S convert with 190K and a 1999 9-5 SE 48K, enjoy both but the 9-5 is a cool, fast car and a pleasure to drive. I had a 89 9000CD from 120K until 190K and it is still going strong with a family member. The 9-5 is a step up from the 9000CD, but the old CD seemed a little faster. that may have been due to the high pressure turbo and the 9000 CD transmission had been replaced at 85K. The 9-5 is more sporty looking to me and the low pressure turbo-(no boost gauge) runs really smooth and on sport setting is faster geared than I need.
Also the gas mileage on the 9-5 is as good as 29-30 on the highway and 20-25 intown depending on traffic stops etc. I paid 10K for the 9-5 with 44K, and added a GM 24K extended warranty for 1500, seemed like a great deal to me compared to other options for a work car. Fun to drive..
