Aftermarket CD changers and Ipod adapters are often RF interface, which means they play on a Radio Frequency so that no modifaction or plugs are necessary for the in car unit, just tune in a radio station. RF devices are subject to quality issues as the broadcast signal from the device is necessarily weak and subject to interference.
The factory Saab CD changer is hard wired into the car and is controlled by the radio head in the car and the steering wheel controls. This unit must be "married" and un-married from the car with a Tech II.
9-3SS' have an AUX port in the console that adapts the speaker output of an Ipod or other similar device, to the radio head in the car for perfect fidelity and no interference, but the radio head will not control the Ipod or other device, just play the output through a hard wire connection.
