I'm surprised no one jumped all over the comment about your brakes grinding...If they're grinding a break job isn't just "inevitable" -it's too late.
My suggestion is to look in the owners manual..I think the service interval maintenance items are listed for the various check-ups. I've heard of folks spending $600 or more to get them done when just about all of it is basic DIY.
Someone mentioned getting a good reference manual. I use WIS, but I've heard the Alldata service is top notch. One of the third party publishers like Haynes is also rumored to be putting one out. They can save you a lot of time, trouble and expense.
As far as tires go. Around here, everyone seems to agree that Nokia puts out one of the best winter tires around -but they are pricey. Blizzaks and Michelin Arctic Alpines are a bit more affordable.
