Question re: Ignition Module recall and Upgraded ECU's Posted by MI-Roger [Email] ![]() ![]() |
Making some assumptions here. First, that the upcoming Ignition Module recall will require a re-flash of the ECU program to load the latest diagnostic and warning software to accompany a revised piece of DIC hardware.
What happens to any upgraded ECU's? Will owners of performance enhanced engine software suddenly find themselves with the standard program? I am considering purchasing the Saab ECU upgrade for the 2000 model year vehicles only. This upgradw probably has the least risk of being wiped out by a re-flash since it is a Saab aftermarket part.
Scenario #2 of this question is what happens if an owner receives the new DIC and a re-flash, then installs an aftermarket ECU upgrade. Do they loose the benefits of the improved DIC software re-flash? Or do the engine performance program upgrades only replace/rewrite specific files?
Or maybe I am worrying about nothing.
