After chronic CEL (at idle) problems, the situation appears to now be resolved (partly thanks to this board). I had been having consistent CEL random misfires P0300 and tried EVERYTHING to fix it. Performance was fine but CEL persisted and high misfires showed up on Tech2 (both banks). Last week, I had intermittent stalling and "took it in". No codes (other than misfires) showed and the turbo bypass valve was suspected as it was filled with oil - replaced valve and it still stalled. The service technician balked at my suggestion of the CKP because he claimed "they simply fail" (they later admitted that on the V6, they can go slowly). I presses the CKP suggestion and sure enough, it showed a Crank Position Sensor fault code. It seems the seal on the blind cover of the old oil filter location was leaking onto the CKP and is now suspected in original CEL problem. The theory is that the oil on/in the CKP was causing the CKP to send poor signals to the engine computer (caused misfire but not "bad" enough to show CKP code). Replaced CKP, long test drive and P0300 random misfires reduced to zero AND no stalling. The transmission even seems to shift smoother.

ADVICE TO ALL V6 OWNERS!!!!

Check this board thoroughly BEFORE service.
