First, my thanks to 8AA2YM for posting the solution that I followed and am reporting on here (see end of my post for reference).

So, Santa Monica SAAB quoted me $2600 plus labor. I had it rebuilt for $275 and installed it myself.

I followed 8AA2YM's step=by=step guide posted here on Saab.net. I removed the ABS control module unit which took less than 20 minutes from the time I pulled out the tools to the time I closed the hood. The hardest part of the removal was not losing the six bolts connecting the unit while I removed them. Other than that, it was very easy to remove.

I contacted Jamie at Auto Truck & Electronics (http://www.autoecu.com). She sent me a UPS label for 2-day shipping to them. Thier turn-around on the rebuilt was 2 days, then sent it back UPS via 2-day shipping. So all told six days. Total cost was $275 dollars and comes with a 5-year warranty. It took me about 15 minutes to re-install the unit from the time I popped the hood to the time I put the tools away.

Once I had the installation done, I started it up and it's running perfectly again. All lights are off and my spedometer is working just fine.

I found this solution here on Saab.net by finding posts regarding ABS module units from 8AA2YM. Through the members gallery link here, are pictures with brief step-by-step narrative. You can also search 8AA2YM for DIY replacement discussion.
