Hi Jeff,
About a year ago, I had my car aligned at the dealership while it was in getting work. They aligned it fine, but I was also happily surprised to receive a printout of the before & after settings angles for all four wheels. On both printouts, it showed the mfg's min & max specs for all my wheels. I won't give what my own car's measured settings were, but here's what that printout gave for mfg's settings for my category of vehicle: "2000-2001 9-5 17" Wheel (Aero)": Of course, your model/year of vehicle will vary, but rather than just taking the mechanic's word that tires are supposed to wear out every 10K miles (laughable), you should request a reading of your current setup.
Fronts (Left & Right)
Min Nominal Max
Camber: -1.40 -0.9 -0.4
Caster: 2.4 2.9 3.4
Toe: 0.1 0.14 0.18
Front Total
Min Nominal Max
Cross Camber - 0.0 -
Cross Caster - 0.0 -
Total Toe 0.2 0.28 0.36
Rears (Left & Right)
Min Nominal Max
Camber: -1.35 -1.1 -0.85
Toe: 0.11 0.21 0.31
Total Rear:

Total Toe: 0.22 0.42 0.62
Thurst Angle - - -
Again, these were the spec numbers on my printouts - I didn't retype my 'actual' readings. I won't comment, due to lack of knowledge, on what could cause your problem, but it might tell you something to get a reading for your car. For what it's worth my car's actual rear camber was -2.3 deg (out of spec) before & after - but I don't mind as I like the appearance of that camber. It doesn't seem to be hurting the tires much either as I have 30K+ miles on my current Sumitomo HTR+ tires.
Good Luck,
KevinH
