You're facing a pretty standard dilemma for any highline car, Saab, BMW, Benz, Audi, Volvo, et al. Will you be happy in some econobox with less mileage and less to go wrong? There's a risk/reward thing workin' there. Do you have the resources to cover a highline catastrophe? If so than driving a $5-10k car that looks like a new $30-40k car can be very rewarding if you can cover the risk. Cosmetically and mechanically a modern well cared for car should last well beyond 200k miles, and perform well, be very reliable and look good doing it.
It's always paradoxical to me that people can be so concerned with the possibility of a $1k-2k-3k major repair on an older vehicle, will instead spend $5k-10k or even $20k or more for a new(er) car. Newer cars still use tires and brakes and aren't always less troublesome (less expensive yes because of the warranty) than older cars.
