.. reliability is the issue. Mine is 99 2.3 L Manual with 60,100 light Southern California miles (not tough Toronto weather). I am a little more skeptical than CrNiFe, although I do like the car a lot. Warranty covered work:
New outside mirrors
New SID (replacement is now failing)
Lots of new lights (standard stuff that we all endure)
Three new batteries
Non warranty work:
New syncromeshes for transmission ($1400)
New battery
New Crankshaft Position Sensor
New Waterpump (broke 2 weeks ago)
New DIC (in shop right now ..... although I have asked SAAB to pick this one up given the NHTSAs investigation and GMs iminent recall of 200-2003 DICs ('99 is a previous version, but close enough for me to ask for SAAB to replace).
Great car .... if only a bit more reliable (wear and tear items should have lasted longer ... tranny another issue)
