A 70K mile service is "only" an oil change and tire rotation loosely speaking.
What you DO GET though by taking it to a Saab mechanic is that he/she can look over the car in a professional manner and maybe find things that could leave you stranded in the near future. We look at all the belts, hoses, lights, brakes and plenty of other things. This doesn't take that much time to do but that's because we know what to look for and what it should look like when good or not so good.
Since you have the V6 engine I assume you got the timing belt changed for free at 60K at the dealer, but did they also change the whole tensioner pulley kit?
If those pulleys were not replaced and they start to make noise, that's the type of things a Saab professional can listen for and maybe help you stay away from costly repairs.
A car owner doing their own oil changes might not have the possibility to crawl all around under the car to check out everything.
