See link in this message. It will take you to GenuineSaab's service pages area, the air filter is under Item #2.
It is much easier to change this filter if the car is up on ramps. Another suggestion from doing this job is to remove the bolt immediately in front of the pasenger front wheel opening securing the chin spoiler. This way you can bend the spoiler out of the way to remove the air filter cover easier. The filter is located beneath the car, in front of the passenger side front wheel, in a circular housing.
The plugs are located beneath the DIC/IDM, the black rectangle on top of your engine (assuming a 4-cylinder). Disconnect the wiring harness on the driver's side of the DIC/IDM, remove the four screws securing the DIC/IDM to the valve cover, wiggle it and lift straight up. Viola!, spark plugs.
To disconnect the wiring harness, examine the connector closely. You will see two red plastic bars on the front side which are the tips of the legs of a long U-shaped locking clip. Depress these red bars into the connector housing body. Reach to the back side of the connector and pull on the red "saddle" of this U-shaped locking clip. Pull it out of the connector body 3/4-inch or so, and the connector will pull off the DIC/IDM easily (almost falls off).
I hope this helps.
