Double miles... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] (#81) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mike Lynch) on Sun, 20 Nov 2005 19:18:17 In Reply to: Purchase high mileage 9-5, CTM, Sun, 20 Nov 2005 11:27:03 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
It's very common for us used car managers to double the deduct for high mile vehicles. If the Blue Book says $7,500 with a $2,000 deduct for miles, bottom line Blue Book value of $5,500, than $3,500 is closer to the truth.
Now if the car has an excellent service history in that you know the complete maintenance history and the shop who serviced it than, fine, actual low book or around there would be pretty swell.
A well maintaned quality 150k vehicle has the potential to be nicer than a 50k abused vehicle. The practical wear limit of modern vehicles is more in the 250k range. That is at 150k, it's more about how it's been taken car of then anything else. She's gotta' lot of miles to go before wear becomes a factor. BTW that's cosmetic as well as mechanical.
